Ben Case: The Canes Should Not Trade for Duchene Despite Recent Trade Rumors The offensive woes in Carolina continued to haunt them in their 2-1 loss on Thursday night to the Hawks despite getting 40 SOG. Looking at three of the last four losses for Carolina, they have out-shot their opponents 116-67—however, only managed to score four goals on those 116 shots. Many cite the issue to be that the Canes need to have a true “goal-scorer.”

unless they insist on Faulk you absolutely bite on Dusch. Would Definately trade Fleury for Kog if a deal could be worked out around those two... likey some other small assets going to COL as well.

If you can get Kog without losing Faulk, I'd do Fluery and a first. Problem is, I don't think Sakic would do that ever-I see him wanting a "no brainier," not a "fair trade."

I think there will be competition driving the price up but not many teams can afford to give up a young d like Car. Maybe ANA, Philly, I know Boston is frequently mentioned... Fluery and a 1st... maybe another small asset... players like this (young top 6 reasonably signed) dont go on market often. Francis patience has put them in a position to pounce.

carolina would be insane not to get duchene if possible.. they are one of the few teams loaded with young talent to spare. plus a center with duchene's skills rarely are available. if the canes want to win they'll need more talent at C, with duchene at #1 staal at #2 the canes instantly become real good!! sorry but rask and lindholm aren't even close to the level of duchene.. and saying you need net front presence as to why not to get him is laughable, those guys can be cheap wingers

Maybe the Canes and Leafs could be good trading partners. I kinda see them as opposites, the Leafs are pretty deep of front in terms of prospects and the Canes seem deep on the back end. JVR is a good net front presence, but he might be pricey.

I agree. Why is it that no matter how many times it is reiterated that good centres in hockey are hard to find that people still don't get it. They require the most hockey IQ out of any other position on the ice, bar none.

If you want a centre of his caliber, it's going to be a true "hockey trade". Nobody's gifting anybody anything. You have good defensive depth. Your offence is severely lacking. I say go for it. You've got nothing to lose but more hockey games...

I want Landeskog. I vote him over Duchene because we don't have enough big forwards to pair with Aho, Skinns, and Duchene.

Although I would agree in most years a move of this magnitude wouldn't be smart for the future. As you stated we are close to be dangerous.

Unfortunately the fans need a confidence boosting move (or 2) soon. We are dead last in attendance by a big margin and talk of being relocated. Low attendance only boosts the chances.

GMRF has built some solid depth to keep us good for a long time. We also have 16.5 million of salary coming off. Bickell, McClement, and Hainsey probably aren't staying.

Returning- TT and Ryan.

Questionable- Stalberg, Nesty, McGinn, Rattie, Dahlberg, Tennyson, PDG.

With all that, I believe we can absorb Lands 5+ mil salary.

Count me in the Landeskog camp as well. I think he would be a better long term fit in Carolina. I seem to remember that he and Skinner are pretty good friends from their time in juniors as well.

Short of the Avs for one of Hanifin, Faulk or Rask; you absolutely explore the idea of trading for Duchene.

Definitely think Either Duchene or Landeskog would be great additions!
The cost is the only thing to work out! I'd offer 1st Rd pick (maybe even two), plus Fleury, or Mckeown... Why? ... if the team (with this addition) plays at all better (likely) THEN THOSE PICKS are late 1st rounders...! Other possible defensemen to include in trade SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED!
Slavin and Pesce are untouchable...IMO!

Any team would love to have duch, you have to explore but I would not do it for a top d and a 1st, unfortunately that is what it'll take you! Stay the course imho
